The Fort Lauderdale RV show was so small compared to the ones in Seattle and Puyallup, but we went anyway, our ninth or tenth in just over three years. Still great exercise: both physical - all that walking around and up and down steps; and mental - exercising self-control and keeping our money in our pockets for now.
It is always fun to see what they have come up with in the RVs. This time we concentrated on Class B’s, especially the Dodge Sprinter Chassis with the Diesel Engine, around 22 mpg, give or take. But that just proves how when a dream feels threatened you are willing to compromise. Before, Leon would not even consider something that small. Now, we feel desperate.
Our original dream to work six months in Florida and rush out to our favored Pacific NorthWest for at least four or five - well, it is on hold for now. The nature of his new job, though it will help pay for it eventually, is that he needs to not miss that many months, even two or three complicate matters greatly. Chalk it up to one misjudgment on our part. So workkamping out there and some sightseeing for now, poof!
So, we thought, why not get a Class B, cheaper, though not by much, and much better gas mileage, after all, we are looking 3900 miles give or take twice a year? We just wanted a way to get to Washington without hotels, I have a definite aversion to them now. We could still get our property in the mountains and for now just find one with the extra room already there, so we wouldn’t get stuck in that tiny RV all day long when we weren’t out in the perfect climate there…
So… we are not comfortable completely with that… but at least when we run from hurricanes down here in South Florida, we would not have to depend on hotels - or relatives… Seems when we run to another part of Florida to stay with relatives- the hurricane finds us there.
So, Plan A, squashed, Plan B, might be, but I am working furiously to either make one of those happen or come up with a Plan C. I am NOT letting our entire dream go. I’ve done that too many times in the past.
(And someone is making an offer on our house, finally!!!! Fingers crossed, please!)
And I promise more photos soon…
