Host Offers More

Last year I mentioned Host, we fell in love with their 330 Quad Slide, a 35 foot (actual length) Class C, which I believe they label as a Super-C. Of course, I had changes in mind for it, but the kitchen alone was worth the high price. Well, would have been were we of that income level, grin. But it is also longer than we want. The 27 foot was also great.

Host is adding a new line of Class C RVs, Mini-C. Only one has photos so far, 28 feet, 2800 RB, triple slide. I don’t get the mini designation personally, they are listed as wider than the Super-Cs. The few photos did not seem as luxurious as the Super-Cs, but without seeing them in person, that is probably not a fair assessment.

We were both quite impressed with their quality. Money no object, in spite of it being 35 feet, we probably would have left the RV show with it that day. That is why I don’t go shopping when I have money, I prefer to go without it so I think it through. Are you that way?

One step back

OK, so it feels like more. After seven months on the market - we had an offer on our house, we countered, and strong rumor had it would be accepted. But life has a way of interfering with all of us at times and the offer had to be withdrawn. It wasn’t that she/he didn’t want the house, so even in my depression, I feel for that person to have something interfere with something they wanted as well.

As for us, it wouldn’t matter if we had not already moved to Florida and were struggling to juggle rent and mortgages. But, I know we are not alone.

Ask me if I would have moved without selling the house if life had “do overs” - and I would say yes. We had to leave before the snow; we had to start the new job before the work dried up; it has been a wonderful experience - except for the market falling as we moved.

Here’s to another buyer now!

Winnebago 2009 View 24P

Oh my gosh, if only it were a Born Free. I love the floor plan for the 2009 View 24P - though I have only seen it on paper. Now, most of you do not know that I love love love to change things around: words, furniture, walls, hobbies, plants; It is in my blood. (No, not husbands, I am quite content with Leon!)

So, in my mind I have made the bunk bed area into a cool u-shaped desk the side without a window with tall shelves or cabinets, the window side with out for easy egress in an emergency.

Of course, true to my nature, I left the bunk beds and made the sofa bed table area a desk/dining area instead. (Remember only in my mind, I have no idea if it will work, but isn’t it fun to change things around to make it work for you?!)

Check out the link above. And if you aren’t as excited as I am about the 24P, you may like one of the others. They have many floor plans. On the left side bar you can preview their other 2009 RVs.

And we have an offer on our home. Maybe, sooner than the much later we thought, we might have our RV.

A quiet RV show

The Fort Lauderdale RV show was so small compared to the ones in Seattle and Puyallup, but we went anyway, our ninth or tenth in just over three years.  Still great exercise: both physical - all that walking around and up and down steps; and mental - exercising self-control and keeping our money in our pockets for now.

It is always fun to see what they have come up with in the RVs. This time we concentrated on Class B’s, especially the Dodge Sprinter Chassis with the Diesel Engine, around 22 mpg, give or take.  But that just proves how when a dream feels threatened you are willing to compromise.  Before, Leon would not even consider something that small. Now, we feel desperate.

Our original dream to work six months in Florida and rush out to our favored Pacific NorthWest for at least four or five - well, it is on hold for now.  The nature of his new job, though it will help pay for it eventually, is that he needs to not miss that many months, even two or three complicate matters greatly. Chalk it up to one misjudgment on our part. So workkamping out there and some sightseeing for now, poof!

So, we thought, why not get a Class B, cheaper, though not by much, and much better gas mileage, after all, we are looking 3900 miles give or take twice a year?  We just wanted a way to get to Washington without hotels, I have a definite aversion to them now. We could still get our property in the mountains and for now just find one with the extra room already there, so we wouldn’t get stuck in that tiny RV all day long when we weren’t out in the perfect climate there…

So… we are not comfortable completely with that… but at least when we run from hurricanes down here in South Florida, we would not have to depend on hotels - or relatives… Seems when we run to another part of Florida to stay with relatives- the hurricane finds us there.

So, Plan A, squashed, Plan B, might be,  but I am working furiously to either make one of those happen or come up with a Plan C.  I am NOT letting our entire dream go. I’ve done that too many times in the past.

(And someone is making an offer on our house, finally!!!! Fingers crossed, please!)

And I promise more photos soon…
