New Toys or Stress Creators?

The word “toy” in my Macbook’s dashboard dictionary is basically differentiated as a noun into two different definitions, by words like “tiny replica” and “play” when defining for a child and a “machine or gadget” and “providing amusement” when referring to adult toys.

On the days our computers and iphones work flawlessly and by my rules, they are definitely capable of being toys; on the days they don’t, I would relabel them stress creators. As of tomorrow the second of my two newest office workhorses (grin) will be delivered:

I expect them to be toys, I mean productive pieces of equipment, and not stress creators. Time will tell. And yes, I categorized this as Preparation for Fulltiming, too. After all, won’t be much room in a small RV for a full sized scanner, right? This little one will be perfect to carry if Leon adjusts claims in another area, but then, by the time we get to that point, the thing will probably be worn out. Seriously, anything we might be taking on the road later, we are purchasing with size – and convenience – in mind.

And if you are in TX or LA, heads up and, please, stay safe, don’t take chances. Hurricane Ike may just not play fair. He is not a toy; he is definitely a stress creator at a greater magnitude than my toys.

I often think the same thing about all things technology related. They should be fun and easily used, but they often aren’t. Good luck with these! They sound really cool.
