Success Defined

Success Defined

Success
might best be defined
as controlling sadness
on demand:

flashing pearly whites
despite gritted indentations within,

tossing hair with casual abandon
though it weighs as heavy as one’s heart,

turning tears of despair
into sparkles in bright eyes.

With any luck
or drive within
the effort of on demand
could become

as unnoticed as
the everyday.

  1. Hmm. Well, although the poetry is beautiful, my friend, I might argue the point. “Fake it until you make it” indeed has merit. I prefer to define success as having eyes open for real joy. Your “only the good” is an excellent way to open the eyes to that…

This is the hardest thing in the world to do! Accomplishing it is truly success!
