I, also, sometimes, have this other thing that interferes with accomplishing things: I make plans to do something, know the date it has to be done by, think about it three weeks before and know I have plenty of time to accomplish it. Then two weeks, one week before, and maybe five days before, I note that I have I plenty of time to accomplish it — and then it is the day before, the day of, or in a worst case scenario, the day after — before the thought crosses my mind again.

It most often happens with birthdays and anniversaries. This time it happened with something I needed to do before the end of the business year. Luck still being somewhere around me, Leon remembered first thing this morning. Of course, that means, the blog posts I had started a week ago for this week, the extra day of lazing about, the other project for work I had planned to do while dog sitting, well, bye bye to those, and hello business accounting items one, two, and three. Thank goodness they won’t take too long! But then I probably should start the other ones due before the 15th. I mean it will be here before you know it, I mean, before I know it.

Perhaps y’all may want to double check your calendars, too. There’s something to be said, at times, about doing things as you remember than, drop what else you are doing and do them, well, in my case anyway.

Bella

Leon and I had a wonderfully entertaining four hour lunch with bloggers: Brian, Diane, Rose, and Ann today. We all received attention and paid attention to each other, the way it should be, however, before we left this morning to go out, Bella and I had a safety issue, and, when I am in charge, safety rules. She didn’t like it much and chose to continue her pout when we returned home.

To be read with total disregard for the lack of rhythm or flow in the writing:

Twas the day after Christmas and all through this house
Bella reigned queen

(as only an elder and sweet dog could do)

And though she’s pouting because I admonished her,
and though she’s ignoring me
(and loving Leon most, to spite me)
she’s still beautiful Bella
and I would give up yet another trip to far away places just to spend Christmas with her

but next bleeping time, Leon can be the villain!

Yes, Only the Good, Friday time today, and my good thought for the day is all of the above, family, friends, temporary pets (like grandchildren, only the good parts, grin.) Now, I wrote this Friday as part of Only the Good Friday request from Shelly at This Eclectic Life, but got distracted by the still, at the time, pouting Bella. This morning I was her friend again… ahhh, a good morning, grin.

Find the good in your day or in the world around you and join in! It is a guaranteed smile and feel good inside moment. Head on over to Shelly’s and follow the links to more reasons to smile.

May your last five days of the year bring smiles, no pouting, and a nod to your neighbors.

Please note: though I try to keep my blog at the most PG rated, and usually only G, occasionally the blogs I link to are not. I originally planned to only link to those that were, however, life is not only G and PG and I doubt my readers live in only a G and PG world… More like a 17 required or something. So, follow any links ONLY if you are not a child or minor — just in case. After all, as adults if you flip on something beyond your realm, you will have the presence of mind to click back off. Thanks.

Toys for Tots in Palm Beach County announced last night that donations were about half the usual number and that requests had doubled. If you were able to go a bit overboard buying for your child or children this year, why not take one of those presents and drop it off at a Toys for Tots drop off location.

If you can donate money, they have a secure link!

I would guess it is similar across the nation.

If you can, please do. (If a normal Saturday pickup down here is around 300 toys, and this year up to 88 is a GOOD pickup — and they have twice the requests….)

Toys for Tots, the national link that will lead you to your local as well.

For me it is scary that we have that few donations with perfect weather, I wonder what it must be like where no one can get out and drive safely for all the winter storms?

Fingers crossed. I just updated to Leopard 10.5.6, and read in a forum that it solved the problem so many of us have had with pdfs freezing the system. Could it be that this coming week when we go into Leon’s work files we can actually get work done in a timely manner? (There went my excuse to goof off the entire Christmas week.)

Fingers Crossed. I so want to fall back in love with my Macs. I could use a reduction in frustration, too. This has been going on since the update to 10.5.5 months ago – and when you work and live together, my frustration is his frustration is my frustration and so on.

Woohoo! I am smiling today because when it is one of those years you are able to give more than you do normally, it just plains feel awesome. And this year, Leon and I are in that position – but it is more than that.

I was afraid we had put off too long going shopping for toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive, so I was feeling pretty low. You see, I procrastinate all the time; worry about not having a retirement income some of the time; haven’t had money above bills at other times in the past. That added up to too many years of giving less than we should have. (I don’t count the years we were plain broke or had family members to help, I refuse to feel guilt over something that happens to most of us at some time or the other.))

But guilt because of just plain procrastinating, well, that is well-deserved! Today, I Googled Toys for Tots and found out we have until the 23rd of December to donate toys in both Palm Beach County and Broward County! And today is only the 19th! And what is so cool is there is a two page list of places to donate and the hours they are located. So, if you are down here and have just been procrastinating like me, click here!

If you are elsewhere, this is a link to the national site for Toys for Tots. (And the picture in that site’s header is just plain adorable!)

A photo follows of the Biker Santa Toy Run in St. Petersburg during November, 2004. It is so much more powerful to see in person with hundreds of bikes going by.

My parting thought: Remember a smile, a hug, your presence, are all worth more than presents piled to the sky. One present we sometimes forget to give: acceptance of the other person’s dreams when they are different than ours…

And run over and see what good Shelly at This Eclectic Life has shared, Mmm Good! Join us?
