Only the Good Friday

Shelly wants to hear about the good, but more to the point, she wants us to seek out, find, experience, think the good, at least on Fridays. I skipped last Friday, can’t remember why, but it wasn’t because I had nothing good, more like my mind was on something else. Where is your mind? Can you bring it to good places? Why not share it? And let Shelly know you are.

Tonight Leon and I went downtown to walk – and eat. (Exercise and the consume more calories. Yeah, something like that.) At the park, children were singing in front of the bandstand, there was such a crowd, I could see only two of the children. The vendors were out, people were milling around, the trees were wrapped in white lights, the breeze was enough to combat the return of warmer weather here.

Our first attempt at eating, we decided at the last second to only have appetizers when Leon’s draft beer was less than perfect. (Wise choice, Leon.) We wandered the street, watching people, weaving in and out of outdoor tables reaching almost to the street, looking in windows, holding hands, just relaxing.

Since I had eaten more fries than I should have, and didn’t feel 100% anyway, I suggested he go to the Sushi restaurant he had not yet tried. (Wise choice, Marcia.) His sashimi was fresh, the Wasabi good, the seaweed salad good, and the owner thrust Saki on him, just because. Leon loves sushi and sashimi and could eat it as often as I could Chipotle (or baked potatoes).

Leon’s plans for ice cream now thwarted by beer, Saki, sashimi, salad, and some of my french fries earlier, then “pancake” aka cheese pizza; we wandered slowly back to the car, pausing to people watch, look in the store windows, hold hands, take a quick peek at the park vendors again.

It was a relaxing walk. Tied for the honors, though, was coming home, looking up to see stars in the sky. For the evening, all felt right with the world…. It was a good Friday.
