Someone close to me brought up their hope for The Year of the Jubilee; they mentioned all debts forgiven, a fresh start for all. I am unconvinced, it is something we must agree to disagree on.
I used to truly believe that everyone on this earth should make the same salary no matter their job because all jobs are necessary and all jobs should be done to the best of our abilities and all work is worthy of respect, and so on. I was, however, reminded that no matter that we all got paid the same, no matter that our jobs were respected by most if not all, we would still spend our money differently and therefore some would overspend, some would hoard, some would be wise, some unwise, some would consider wants needs and so on… and though we would start on equal footing, people would still – for the most part – fall back into who they chose to be and make mistakes of varying kinds — and though they made the same, the givers would still give, the takers would still take, the stagnant would become stagnant again…
Think about how many people repeat mistakes…. in all aspects of their lives… Then think about how some, the few, go on to make themselves better, to make less mistakes, to learn from their mistakes and become stronger….
Hoping, wanting, and then striving to be THAT person, the one who learns from their mistakes to become stronger, is a miracle that is possible, that is the miracle to seek, that is the miracle that just might already be lurking in place.
May our miracles come to fruition.
