By the time I got to the computer last night, I was too tired to create links or find the post I wanted to link to, still am, actually, so that post will come later in the week, because it was/will be about a human being doing something out of the ordinary for another human being. You will find your heart warmed – once I find the link again. But for now, in the spirit of Shelly’s request that we join her in writing the good on Friday’s, which I once did way back, on Sundays, I give you:

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Florida when the weather is perfect (as in NOT summer): attend the largest Street Painting Festival in the United States. Around 400 artists creating 200 chalk paintings on the blocked off streets of downtown Lake Worth, Florida over two days. We spent close to 3 hours walking around and may go back tomorrow. Had someone not taken ALL six of our towels out of the dryer this morning, we would have stayed longer, but drying off with a hand towel or a washcloth is not something I want to do another day, so we had to go buy towels… (oops, I digressed from good)

There were some paintings for the most part finished, a few barely started, and most were close to be finished tomorrow. The crowd seemed respectful, and, I was amazed so few people were smoking, though there were a few people with cigars… but this is about the good: I got less smoke in my face in the throngs of people than I normally do walking on a Friday or Saturday night.

Join in posting about good and check out what Shelly at This Eclectic Life had to say good and who joined in, but first, quick photos taken with my iPhone today.

  1. What magnificent paintings! No!! NOT chalk! I hate it when art washes away! But wait…the good … it’s beautiful while it lasts, and in truth nothing lasts forever. Great photos, Marcia.
    Hugs!

Yeah, I am with you, Shelly, on art washing away. Apparently, in Paris, they protected it with something at one park. It was fun to look down from our hotel window to see the artwork, most of it apparently by children. One spiraled around a tree… Proud of you, grin, for remembering… the good.
