Recently, I chose to honor another human by not doubting their intentions or their word. And though when we do so with any human being, it could cause us pain or life savings or merely extreme frustration later, I did it, this time, without malice… but with forethought.*
And I wondered, how many times a year/month/day the average human being does that – or chooses not to?
And when we give someone the benefit of doubt, are we really? Do we normally allow our brain to race through the scenario and make a sound judgment like I did that particular time? Or do we just hold our breath or throw our shoulders back and march head on or do we dive on in, assuming the water is deep and there are no rocks to shatter our head on?
I bet if we examined it, the results would be a bit of all of the above.
Living in a world filled with human beings, is never boring, not if you think about all that must go on behind the scenes in a variety of personality types or take into account cultural differences. So, if you are bored, let your mind roam where it normally doesn’t. It could be dangerous, but it could just stop the boredom.
* I admit, that phrase was written in part because of the play on the phrase “without malice or forethought”.

Wow. You’ve made me think, Marcia. No small accomplishment there
Your “no rocks to shatter our head on” line also reminds me of a swimming hole we go to from time to time, with ledges we jump off of, never able to see what is beneath the surface.
Bone – that is what I was thinking about — though I never braved jumping off ledges myself. Definitely fun to hear you say I made you, of all people, think. – MMB
