Pick Your Battles

How many times have we heard the phrase, “Pick your battles”?

Too many, some would say. I can justify reminded us all again two ways: Someone who read this may have never heard it. It is hard to do, so we need to be reminded.

That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Let’s all pick our battles. Now, don’t try to twist my words and take those five words literally and then blame it on me. Let’s, instead, pick them in the manner the phrase was intended: Pick them wisely, as in don’t fight a definite losing battle, and don’t find one just to be fighting. Is it worth fighting the battle? Are you just imposing your will and extremely higher than the norm values on someone else?

This guy is definitely not battling anything. Well, maybe he just lost his battle against sleep overcoming him.

P.S. I just added a photo of a beautiful white peacock, feathers partially unfurled, to my Photo Poetry page. To view: click on page at side, or just click here.

This photo (and the peacock photo) was taken by Leon Bogaert at Palm Beach Zoo yesterday. Please, as with all photos and words in this blog, honor our copyright. Thanks!

One Response to Pick Your Battles

  1. Pick our battles? That requires using the thought process, doesn’t it? Sometimes it does pay to just stop and look at the situations, though, and decide if we are doing what we should. Are you in the process of “picking battles,” or something?

Shelly, yes, thought process. Me, picking battles? Only when I remember – and not often enough. MMB
