Only the Good Friday

For those who work M-F, it’s obviously a potentially good day since the weekend follows. I’m mostly retired, so today I played almost exclusively. GOOD!  I did a few token things for Leon, and (that sounds so awful)…

I “studied” applications for my iPhone. That sounds like work, too, doesn’t it? But it is not when you are having fun doing it. Good! As a result of this ’study’ and the resulting downloads:

  • I can now tap only a few buttons and speak an address or a business name rather than type it all in. I wouldn’t recommend either driving, you then have to look to see what it thought you said and choose.  Had I followed the directions to Starbucks without looking at the city it thought I said, It would have been a long five hour drive rather than just five minutes. Although, who knows what I might have discovered on the way.  It is the journey that counts, right? GOOD!  And gas is cheaper right? So it would have been cheaper than had I tried it last week, right? Good.
  • I can now test my brain, also for free (don’t count the cost of the phone, data plan, and plan minutes, of course!). I found out how slow I am at deciding if the blank in “9 blank 8=1″ is a +, -. *, /… among other things, but then, I can always practice (again, sounds like work, except when I want to do it) I will improve! GOOD!
  • I can now make my photos look different, again for free, not counting those aforementioned costs. I can make any person look horrid by one button! Good! (Shame on me for saying that, but it is Good that I can get my frustrations out by simply touching a button or two and then deleting it once my kind nature catches up, right? A lot better than mouthing off, I think. Good!
Two “enhanced” photos of days long past, results of my play, keeping with the theme:
 Just the Good Old Boys

Just Good Old-fashioned Fun

and I end with my favorite chair, the GOOD one from which I sometimes work, ‘enhanced’ by my new toy application:
Somedays it is Only the Good Friday when you take time to play…..

Shelly thinks we could all play at finding good… Why not read her good and follow the links to the others that managed to focus at least part of their Friday on GOOD. It got me out of my mood that matched the gray skies down here. It will work for you!

(The tiny red dots beneath phrases indicate links….)

Irritating, Frustrating, Good, Great

Irritating: Back up not working properly on my Macbook — taking so many times longer than it should they suggested I take it in for tests, duh. That is why I was trying to back it up.

Frustrating: IMac STILL not returned from Apple geniuses. One week last Wednesday, told on Thursday: third in line, a good thing, would be ready Saturday night by closing. Still not shown ready on line and no phone call. Yes, they are short handed. Yes, I am short-tempered by now.

Good: Cool air has finally arrived, for now. HOORAY!

Great: (in minor scheme of things) Leon bought me a present yesterday, an AeroGarden Space Saver 6 after reading you can use your own seeds if you prefer. It came with seed pods for herbs, Leon bought lettuce pods, too. Now, I have a well-deserved rep around the house for killing all herbs in pots, even after Leon helped me build a trio of pots when we lived down here before. So, wish me luck! After all, this was, to a point an impulse buy, we knew we wanted one, but the models have slightly different technology, and this one was where we happened to be. This one has air pump oxygenation, another has water pump oxygenation, one has 24 hour light capability, and so on.

Bored?

Bored? There is always factory tours to go on. The following site lists them by states:

Factory Tours

We went on the Boeing Tour and The Chateau Ste Michelle Winery when we were in Washington, along with visits to a few smaller wineries. I wish I had known about this site then. I see other tours just in Washington I would have enjoyed. And, then, there are several chocolate shops to tour in Florida….

I think I just found something to do. Have fun!

Irritating, Yucky, Frustrating, Good, GREAT

Irritating: I was on the phone with Apple Support again - about my precious laptop that is not backed up (yet) anywhere. Decision: take it in when the other one is finally fixed (Saturday night, in theory, they are “short-handed”) and have tests run.

Yucky: I finally ate a few minutes ago, but have the headache already. Bah Humbug.

Frustrating: I can’t get anything done on the computer, have to keep powering it down. Yes, it could be something as simple as a corrupted file, but finding it is another thing yet. I’m now keeping a log. AND THE SERVERS OR GREMLINS OR ??? KEEP KNOCKING BLOGS OFF LINE. Shelly’s host is not the same as mine and we are both having issues. I know we are not alone. How do businesses manage?

Good: We were told we might get our new windows in both rooms in about four weeks. Maybe then our electric bill will only be high instead of sky high.

GREAT: I won something great! Shelly of This Eclectic Life had a contest. I was one of three winners of tickets to go see Celtic Thunder in concert. Leon and I now have an excuse to go on a date! I do recall we used to do that - I mean other than just grabbing a quick dinner or hunkering in for American Idol or Ally McBeal, and half the time forgetting to have date night snacks available.

Now, I get ready for a date, how? No worries, I have plenty of time to figure that out. We aren’t going yet. Besides, maybe my daughter-in-law will remind me how. She’s only been married three years, it’s still a recent memory for her.

THANK YOU, SHELLY, FOR HOLDING THE CONTEST. I’m smiling now, not even going to think about the first part of this post, well, maybe just a reminder to back up our computers, all of us.
