We are fulltiming in Panoply as of April 15, 2011, if not a few days sooner.

YAY! Leon, me, and all 26.5 feet of Panoply – and no toad.

We are not looking at this as a full time vacation – it is merely a new, smaller home that moves – and we will have to workamp to pull it off. That’s OK, it is still a partial retirement.

Leon has worked hard for 47.5 years, many of those years were 6 day work weeks, some a full time and part time job held at same time.

Blogs will change – still working that out – this time Leon is supposed to chime in.

We have finally learned to not just dream, but dream on a larger scale – and work toward making our dreams happen. Have you?

For years, I never fought my procrastination. I’m trying now – occasionally. Not often enough, judging by the few posts I’ve made in recent months.

I could make excuses, I have been online searching for:

sink to replace the cracked RV one (thousands of sinks later and not one that is what I need – or want)

no VOC flooring

And then there is the packing as we are moving into our son’s rental property, but other people move and raise kids and have fun and blog at the same time. Of course, I have spent a lot of time creating lists….

Do I follow them? No. My joy is in creating them. At least now, most of my lists are on the hard drive rather than on bits of paper that a tree sacrificed itself for.

One list I have followed and because I have, I’ve been supporting online retailers! Since Panoply, our RV, will be our full time home part time, I am getting anything I deem a health or safety related item ordered now. Dishes or cute little pillows? No! We will make do with what we have.

But, I refuse to compromise on these:

no or low chemical items for flooring, curtains, and sofa/bed mattresses

new technology fire extinguishers (and more of them)

LED tail lights (so much brighter)

tire pressure monitoring system

extra smoke detectors and another propane alarm

My biggest frustration with myself? I am quite capable of organizing almost anything. It is following through with the plan where I fall apart.

Today, I took one step forward. I typed this instead of sitting in front of the TV procrastinating. Oh, and I deleted about 100 links to products I have no intention of really needing or buying.

And one more important duty to stop procrastination on: I am in the next minute installing the free virus checker for Mac, ClamXav. It’s about time. Then I really should start packing

My mind bounces from place to place. No, make that it bounces and zig zags and backtracks and races. There. That is more accurate. I’ve been waiting so many months to start my series on remodeling our RV that I got ahead of myself. I should have named the series before I wrote even my farfetched dreams for it. So, rather than throw a fit over it, I’m going to…

continue, I think. To make it worse, grin, I had to use Leon as a sounding board to come up with a title, and though he will take credit for the series title, I thought of it at the same time. Guess it is because we have been married so very long. ; )

You do get it don’t you? ReVitalizing RV Panoply ties in with my blog’s tag line. Now I can get on with telling our journey to making someone else’s RV into ours. Yes, it is remodeling,

but more importantly it is ReVising and ReVitalizing what will become our part time full time home. If it ReVitalizes Leon or I along the journey, we won’t be complaining. Speaking of ReVitalizing. I sure hope our Mother-in-Law Tongue helps eat some of the off gassing in the RV.

Sundays on my blog are supposed to be about calm – or – chaos. Migraine for me (though short lived one), major eye strain ’cause I don’t want to buy a hot lamp so I can see, and a crummy cold for Leon, though it’s hit him less hard than those from whom he obtained it. Relatively calm here between naps and playing couch potatoes.

That is not true; my brain is in complete chaos about Panoply’s design, but on to the pic of the gift that will help future picnics, and therefore, future calm.

Isn’t it cute? About 47″ long, with two little benches that when folded click in for storage beneath the folded picnic table. Our son and daughter-in-law gave it to us for Christmas, their way of “approving” our RV dreams. OK, that’s not it at all, but it was our first gift for Panoply – and a thoughtful one at that! Don’t know where we can keep it, but Leon will make it work, ’cause he knows better than to let ME find a place for it – that will involve construction – or a new car.

Of course, with a green table and benches, one blue folding chair and one bright orange folding chair, and a beige mat left by previous owners, we will be known as the Mismatch Duo, but all money is going into safety related items and into changing out some items for less ‘toxic’ items, not decorating. That is just the way I want it!

Fridays, Shelly at This Eclectic Life declared for us to post Only the Good. No snarky remarks, just hunt for the good. So, I will ignore that the realtor did not return my call from this morning, grin. I mean she found the good in her day today….

I have still not gotten back in the swing of blogging every day or even several times a week, but, for once, I’m O.K. with that – for now. That is good, acceptance.

My good today is personal. Leon and I made the decision to take a chance and move into a manufactured home in an RV Resort, assuming we can get financing in the current financial climate. It is small, but when we went to check it out on a Tuesday, it was alive with people walking their dogs, talking to their neighbors, working on their homes, washing their RVs, playing golf, and helping us find a home, grin. (If we do buy there, I will show pictures.)

Granted most of these people are retired – and we won’t be. We will be working and for a while living in two places, but we have been so isolated from socializing and fun in recent years, working way too hard. So, though rife with logistical problems and his having to build a new referral base, we want to do it. That is good, taking a calculated risk. (Did I just say that?)

I could list many more positives and some negatives, but today, I must ignore that he will still have clients over 3 hours away for many months…

We are smiling, though. Insanity? No, we are both so tired of renting already that even less than 700 square feet sounds perfect, especially when Panoply will be parked outside our door, where we can finish remodeling her and ready to run away with us.

For now, Panoply remains shrouded from the road ahead, but her time is coming….

What’s perfect in your world today? Yesterday? This week? Jump on the bandwagon. Check out what Shelly has to say, grab a banner/button and start sharing your good one day a week. You can do it!

It is New Year’s Eve – and before I continue, I need to say, “I hope this last day of the year has and/or will be your best day yet!

Our RV, new to us, is no longer nameless. We had several contenders, but with veto rights held by both of us, naming was difficult. Loco Motive was one of the forerunners and we still both like that.

But… a few weeks ago, I read Leon the definition of a word from The Alpha Dictionary’s “The 100 Most Beautiful Words in English”. Now, I am not attracted to ‘beautiful’ anything – unless it is nature, but the words weren’t all ‘beautiful.

The one I chose was defined simply as, a complete set. Now, we both saw significance in that, but I didn’t love the word. So I kept hunting.

The other day I saw a word that referred to a complete coat of armour and a splendid array. I suggested the word to Leon as the name. He wasn’t in love with it, but he considered it.

Tonight, I decided to look up that word that meant a complete set, since he got excited when he first heard it. I couldn’t remember anything other than it began with a “P”, but knew where I found it. I didn’t see it the first go around, because I was only looking at the words and not the definitions. I looked again at the definitions and found, a complete set.

Oh my! His word and my word were the same word! The beautiful words article only had part of the definition and I didn’t put two and two together.

We both agreed it was too ironic. We both chose the same word for different reasons, but understood the reasoning of both. I found that out on the last day of the year and Leon is English and we associate armor with England – and well, we both love turtles and turtles have their own armor, and, well, and, so. our RV is now Panoply – pronounced here.

Loco Motive is probably how most people we know see our RV purchase, grin, but, RV Panoply it is. Making a decision is a good way to end the old year. And McGullby (in header) is going on the RV somewhere – to remind us to live in the moment. Leon did not veto it, lol.

Now, in the new year we can proceed with the interior partial demolition and reconstruction, aka remodeling. Stay tuned.

Happy New Year’s Eve to all and may your New Year start with a smile in your heart and a grin on your face.

If this doesn’t freak out a few people we know, nothing will. Leon and I are seriously considering not buying a house or renting, but living full time in a tiny RV. This is the same Leon who, for years, spoke about how much he did not enjoy living in the 864 square feet apartment we rented for one short year. This was the same 864 square feet apartment that I loved the floor plan and could have lived there almost forever.

I have a feeling we will talk ourselves out of full timing now, though it is something we had and still plan for in the not so distant future. In part because of certain logistics, it won’t be easy to work it out on the East coast, but that he is even saying it out loud…. Oh my.

Hmmm. Could this be reverse psychology? Could he be doing this just so I will decide against it? No, I would just reverse it on him, he knows that.

Stay tuned. And don’t tell our son, he will think we have gone over the edge, I’m sure. Not that I blame him, we almost feel the same way, not like we are talking a 40 foot one with a separate bedroom….

The Born Free 24RB was our first choice. Their safety record is impeccable, their quality control is awesome, and their rear bath sold Leon! And, every time I turn around I am reading yet again how happy their service department or factory has made another buyer. They are apparently so willing to adapt them to your needs, to work with you, it is short of incredible, and long time readers know I would want something changed and put them to work on some unconventional something.

But the new 2009 Winnebago 24A has a workable kitchen that far exceeds the counter space of the Born Free. And a slide, though that was not what was pushing over toward it, it was, indeed, the kitchen and the fact the kitchen is in the rear.

The one thing holding us back is suitable locations to live in it down here…. (and perhaps sanity).

Maybe we will just wait until after hurricane season when we know we might be working elsewhere… or maybe we should get it now anyway – so we can run from the storms. Instead of storm chasers we could be storm chasees, or something like that.

Or maybe, we should just go bigger. Or play the lottery and get a tiny condo and an RV… or….

Note: It was not reverse psychology; time has passed since I started this post. It is still an option.

YouTube debut, as in my debut. Leon had his last month when we went to Bush Gardens, coming into view at 2:12 for his ad lib on Roller Coaster Girl. That one really needs to be watched in High Quality though, and I think you have to click on the video and go to YouTube for that and then click just beneath the video. This is Leon’s debut last month:

I previously mentioned that over New Year’s we “played” at my brothers. Well, I tried my hand at “acting” again, something I do NOT do well. However, I think I may have done a decent job on this role, too decent, I show up several times. I won’t tell you that telling someone off just came naturally, ’cause then you <del datetime="2009-01-06T12:24:49+00:00">would know</del> might believe I am capable in real life of being like that. I also won’t tell you that I did that “out of nowhere” on my own in the middle of his just filming other things — for the same reasons, of course.

My debut today:

So, in the theme of Bill’s new song and video, I won’t “tell you what to do”. So, watch it or not, “whatever you want to”. And just be glad I did not video myself trying to play the iPhone Pocket Guitar….

Note, if you are returning, the second video is an updated of the one originally posted. Best viewed in HD.
