Safety comes first. After safety, comes floor plan. I am notorious for changing floor plans, if not in reality, in my head. I probably am a wannabe architect, though, I would never have been satisfied more than a week or two with any design.

For small RVs, I found another floor plan that appeals to us in the future RV 30MH25TE to be manufactured by the Canadian RV company, Bigfoot. One thing I like about it is the slightly curved counter, making it a bit easier for two people to stand side by side. The length of the overhead bed, 80″, is another plus, Leon is 6′ tall.

Of course, since we are still able to climb above the cab to sleep, and change being integral part of my nature, I would want to replace the rear side bed with a small TV viewing area, though since I know some beds are built in a manor that wouldn’t work, that might not be possible the way I envision it. But then, I’ve only seen the floorplan for the 30MH25TE, the other information on that model is “Coming Soon”. But, for those who want to sleep there, that bed is,also, 80″… That is great!

But one other great thing for some, I read their RVs are true four season RVs, rather than three season. But, it is on the Ford chassis, so there is not much leg room without twisting for the passenger. Many of you don’t mind that, judging by the number of Ford chassis RVs sold, but it would annoy me mile after mile.

We are still not to the point of buying our RV, only closer, but the journey toward it has had many fun moments.

After nearly ten months on the market, and a market that declined incredibly, during that ten months, we have a signed contract on our home in Washington state. I know, it is not sold until closing is over, but that could be as soon as the 15th.

I would love to say that meant our RV would be forthcoming, but the market dropped so much, that though our original price was deemed correct for that market, we had to bring it down over the months, we lost 49K by waiting to long to put it on the market - and that was earmarked toward our RV.

On the bright side, we got through it, it looks like it will now be sold, and we can breathe a bit easier. We are trying very hard not to dwell on what could have been, but be grateful, for so many others either did not sell even after years or had to change locations and could not pay for both houses at the same time.

My mind is racing trying to come up with an alternate plan to still reach our dream in a reasonable amount of time, though reasonable in my mind is, quite honestly, this past May. Yes, I am a dreamer and at times less a realist than I should be, I suppose.

But, for now, the ongoing strain, both on the surface and simmering beneath, has eased for both of us. For those of you still struggling to sell, I feel for you, and I wish you luck, there are people out there wanting houses, some just can’t afford what is out there.

Now, do we hold out for a Born Free or look for something lower priced? Do we just get a Class B with a Mercedes diesel to get the mileage to make the trip corner to corner across the US?

It will be a hard decision, one Leon may have to make for us, because if I had my way, I would have a Mercedes diesel to go back and forth every year since the mileage is so much better — and a Born Free to keep in WA for our actual RVing, we won’t be visiting much South other than passing through because of the fire ant issue… his allergy is too strong. And, of course, in my dreams, we would, also, have property at either Lake Tyee (beautiful views and huge lake to kayak on) or Lost Lake RV Resort(small lake, but redone recently and really well kept up when we visited) — and on the ocean in Florida… And, to continue the dream: two lots at the first two, park models on one lot each. We have our floor plans picked out.

Ah, dreams are great aren’t they? They put smiles in our hearts.

Now, to learn how to turn dreams into goals and make the goals a reality. I’m practicing! Are you? I sure hope so.

My chosen “Recreational Vehicle” tonight was changing other blogs to Wordpress. After upgrading another platform, I lost the blogs, then I was trying to do something in my blog files on the host I don’t know how to do… I can no longer get into the file manager. Hmmm. Going to be an interesting day tomorrow, though it appears at least this blog still works. Wish me luck! Though I did pay extra to have them revert it back or something, guess I will find out tomorrow.

Update: I did get the file manager the next time I tried, but still have one blog I messed up, better than all of them!

While waiting for one dream to materialize what can you do?

Why, live another! We are moving to a rental condo on the beach, as in on the beach, not across from the beach or two blocks from the beach. While we wait for the pieces to fall in place for our dream to RV and spend time at an RV resort in the Pacific Northwest, we will just live another one, walks at sunrise and late evening on a quiet beach, just steps from our temporary home. So, we will settle for a “recreation vehicle” rather than an RV - and smile doing it.

When you want to become a full time RVer or at least 3/4 time, you must learn to let go of things - and space. We moved from 1746 square feet to around 400. A step in the right direction, though it was not intentional, just all we could find cheap in a hurry when we moved back to Florida.

This move we are going up, to 640 square feet or so. I don’t think that is conducive to learning to live with less in a considerably smaller space, do you?

I do think it would be easier for us to live in a smaller space if we were in the Pacific Northwest where the climate is great and we could be outside more. So, hopefully, when the time comes, we can make the adjustment completely to less is more, we know it is true, but not here in Florida, for us.

Leon loves large spaces, not that he has lived in many most would deem large. However, in a hurried move to Florida, we landed in a 400 square foot apartment two room apartment. It would not be that bad really if it were not for the window shakers (A/C wall units). They blow hard and in your face through most of the room. Since we are working at home most days the desks take up so much room, we live in our comfortable desk chairs. There would be room for a small couch if we didn’t have to avoid the A/C. So, we are not happy here.

Same space with central air and multi use furniture would be usable in spite of our desks, tight, but usable. It was also designed with more space in the bedroom than need be, but again, the window shaker negates much of the usable space.

Last night he said that living for long periods in an RV would be a major adjustment, and though he is right on the one hand, I just had to (grin) remind him just how much he was already there in a manner of speaking.

In this apartment he spends 90% of his day/evening in one small corner of the apartment. He works there; eats there, by shoving his laptop to one side; watches DVDs on his laptop, his back does not allow him the “luxury” of reclining in bed and enjoying TV or reading there for long. He, also, turns slightly to watch TV which shares the same 6 foot long desk. He does get up to walk around the bookcase and counter into the kitchen to grab a snack. And it is a walk of a whole 9 steps or so to the bathroom and a couple more to the bedroom, but he does not lounge in either space.

So, a park model with central air that has a good floor plan would be a vast improvement over this apartment; same square footage, better use of space. Tah dah! And, a large RV would be almost comparable, but we do not want to drive a large RV.

But, realizing he stares at one small wall most of the day (except when he turns to throw work at me, or rather my desk on the opposite wall) and that in an RV parked where we want it there would be a view and lots of outdoor time, it wouldn’t be much different - well except the fabulous closets, the one thing this apartment owner did right! But I suppose that just means yet more downsizing.

Point made.

I still believe the words I wrote last year. Click on the globe if you are a new reader, please, I would love to share them with you. As RVers, you have already most likely found a bit of inner peace and seen things in your own country that average people caught up only in their own communities don’t get the chance to see. You have also seen more of others helping others judging by many of your blogs. You are aware that one person can make a difference. You have seen movements grow.

No, I am not an RVer yet, but I am paying attention to what you are sharing.

Mimi’s most recent post summarizing all her research this past month on wars is found here: Dona Nobis Pacem ~ A Revolution of Words.

Many links for other writers on peace are found there. Perhaps reading some of them will take your thoughts on peace in a different direction, one of can do, rather than frustration and hopeless? It is hard, it is going to be hard, but one step at a time will make a difference to someone. It has to.
